Photography Tourism On-Ground In The Tropics Reply

One of the areas of Tourism most neglected because it is readily available is Photography. Photography Tourism is taken for granted as a profession and very few seek out locations to shoot to make money on.

Surely, tropical underwater world accessible only to scuba divers is one of those magnificent shoots.

As for amateur home-grown iPad only camera users which is yours truly all I could manage to take pictures of are sunsets mostly. Oh well..

With these first two shots I thought it was an “ordinary sunset”.

Then I thought the blues were nice…

Just when I thought it’s an ordinary sunset it bursted out colours and showed me!

Never take for granted Nature’s Beauty as it unfold in front of you.
Sunsets are a very true individualist nature; no two ever are alike.
One scene will play out once in a lifetime; this is why I watch out for it every day!

Golden Sunset Mother Nature’s Continuing Gift of Natural Beauty Reply

Golden Sunset shots on a typical day at The Palms Resort Mindoro in mid-June. The images were taken with an iPad Gen 5.

Most of the shots were taken from the porch of the Main House.

The identification numbers denote the series of shots.
The letter “A” mean the image was edited using the “Enhanced” feature of the iPad.
The letter “B” mean the original unedited shoot done right after, without any cropping or any other editing.

Why I used the term “mid-June” is because around this time the monsoon season starts to set. The presence of clouds filled with moisture give off a beautiful refraction and reflection on the seas below.

I want to invite you to enjoy this photographic gold mine which is almost guaranteed to play out for your enjoyment and satisfaction.

Oh yes, don’t forget to bring a camera!😃

Mindoro means “Mina de Oro”, Mine of Gold Reply

“Mina de Oro”.
Mindoro Island’s name meant “Mine of Gold”.

There are many resources abundantly found in Mindoro Island. One I like best is the natural still-virgin swatches of forest. I never thought for the name “Mindoro” to also be a literal meaning- mine of gold.

The latest find tho is Jade not gold. Until I attended an opening exhibit of
the Philippine Jade de Mindoro display and workshop would I have known there dis also jade here.

Made by domestic craftsmen, these gems are an early excavation, meaning barely tapping into the mine. I was told the jewellery quality get richer as the dig get deeper.

The owners are a friend of mine and they were kind enough to show me a room full. A room full of raw jade! I never imagined raw jade to be these huge chunks of rocks but here they are- chunks of rocks. They come in huge blocks, some weighing 70 kilos each. Bigger if it can be unloaded and transported through jungle by man.

Stay tuned for more pictures as the workers polish up their pieces.

Projects: Tourism Business & Ecological and Environmental Issues- Balance & Harmony 1

Environmentalists, Ecologists, and Businesses can and oftentimes do come together for common interest and good. Sniping and unconstructive critiques do not help anyone.. we in the Philippine Islands do need help and locally we are trying to rehabilitate an endangered coral population, protect exotic fishes, and retain flora underneath the waves.

Indifference from political leaders IS the single most deadly aspect of this preservation, more than a starving fisherman going out spear-fishing, or netting…

The Dolphin Room- Aptly Named for Dolphin Sighting, High Class Back Pack Divers 3

The Dolphin Room rate check here

What’s back pack divers and dolphins have in common?

Plenty really.

The Dolphin Room is our modest priced accommodation available now. If you’re on a “back pack diver” budget but want all the comforts of a Western- style hotel room, this one’s for you.
This room is a bit smaller at 13 feet by 14 feet as compared to our Coach Room, but it has a large closet in it for all your diver luggages.

For a single person you will not want for material comforts in this room. It has all the amenities you want like hot water in a large shower room, Queen size imported mattress with ultra luxe cotton beddings.

Who says ‘thrift’ and ‘bargain’ is synonymous with ‘poor?’ Definitely you are not. Feel like a King and sleep well- wake up around 5:00 am, open your drapery and look out the ocean.

Do you see “it?” Yeah- there are dolphin pods that come along this bay and get THIS up- close!

The Dolphin Room. You are richly deserving of all those extra pamperings we offer at the Resort, and your plushy accommodation at The Dolphin Room is not a King’s ransom but a bonus.

Hey, what else could you want? Please do tell us, we will get to it!

Continental Breakfast included daily for 2

So called because at the time I was putting away the keys I had it threaded on a Coach purse keychain. That pink leatherette label is easy mark even in the dark.
So there you have it! 😉 No great secret.

But also that it is the kind of quality that the name evoked is the reason why I stayed with the name “Coach”. It denotes quality craftsmanship, high quality materials, REASONABLY PRICED! For the money you pay.

And to add- “Coach” is a noun which denotes ‘leader’, ‘teacher/ instructor’, guide.. ok feeble attempt. I’ll stay with the first explanation.

When I go on vacation, ‘shopping’ is my favourite activity and the ‘purses’ department is where I pay homage to first. Ok, laugh.

And Coach is almost always what I take home!

‘Almost always’ because I also have a ‘love’ for utilitarian-designed leather Italian purses.

So now you know my mindset. Hey, Woman is who makes Executive decisions around here, and it counts what’s important!

Now you know…

Outrigger Tourister and Liveaboard Cruiser at Your Service in the FUN Dept! Reply

We are looking for adventurous souls to go on our maiden voyage of the 4-ton boat you see below. The smaller watercraft will escort her.

She’s in final preps for a motor then a cabin for live aboards, then final paint.

Itinerary is The Palms Resorts- Pandan Island- Coron Bay- Puerto Princesa- then back. The voyage will take about 2 weeks. We will  be crossing the South Philippine Sea formerly known as the South China Sea.

Out on the horizon is the Mindoro Strait shipping lane which also used to be the Japanese Armada choice of waterway when they sailed off to Leyte Gulf to play cat-and-mouse with the Pacific Fleet of General Douglas McArthur during WW11.

Coron Bay is the graveyard of 3 Japanese warships and is now a top destination for hotshot wreck divers. I want to see the much-heard-of beauty of Coron Bay Lagoon where these ships lie.
IMG_2219

This boat is Mindoro Palms #3. She’s going to be a 4-ton outrigger cruiser when we’re done with her. She’d shed off her old skin and put on a new one.

IMG_2220 We totally gutted her, made the top wider to accommodate more load. We also made the outriggers longer and more floats to compensate. Soon we will be putting in a new R4 engine.

IMG_2208 We have an excellent boat maker in our neck of the woods. This boat was scraggly and ugly when we got it. After about a month of work, lots of hardwood, lots of marine epoxy glue and paint and soon a new engine, she’d turned into a beauty.

IMG_2206This one is Mindoro Palms #1.

Yes it does take these many people to beach this baby. Altho the new weight is 1/3 more than the old shell now she is more buoyant, carries more passengers with ease up to 10 people with no problem.

IMG_2214 She’s fast too hence the “Tourister” designation.

Here the Capt. inspects for algae and eagle’s claw, a kind of shellfish that attaches itself to the submerged part and eats up your boat. We don’t want that.

Any takers on the cruise let us know here.

I can’t wait!! I DOUBLE-DARE YOU to come with me!! Dramamine’s ready. 😉
